  1. Basic Research to establish new paradigm of pathogenesis of
    immune-based inflammatory diseases
    1) Target diseases
         (1) Respiratory system
              - Chronic obstructive airway diseases (asthma and COPD)
              - Bacterial pneumonia & Lung cancer
         (2) Skin: Atopic dermatitis
         (3) Gastrointestinal system
              - Gastritis & Peptic ulcer, & Inflammatory bowel diseases
              -  Stomach & Colorectal cancers
         (4) Cardiovascular system
              - Atherosclerosis & Thromboembolism
              - Sepsis, Diabetes, & Obesity
    2) Determine novel causative agents of inflammatory diseases and cancers, especially     focused on bacteria-derived extracellular vesicles
    3) Characterize host responses on the pathogenesis of immune-based inflammatory

  2. Translational Research to develop technologies for the Control of Immune-based Inflammatory diseases
    1) Diagnostics: develop novel biomarkers to diagnose inflammatory diseases and     cancers
    2) Preventive measures
        - Develop preventive device and foods for the prevention of inflammatory diseases
           and cancer in lung and GT tract.
        - Develop vaccines for the prevention of bacterial infections and of inflammatory
           diseases caused by bacteria-derived vesicles
    3) Therapeutics
        - Therapeutic vaccines for the treatment of inflammatory diseases
        - Highly targeted drug delivery system
        - Novel anti-inflammatory & anti-cancer agents
