Pohang city is located at the south-east of the Gyeongbuk Province, the southern part of Mt. Taebaek. Overall, the climate is mild with a relatively short rainy season in the summer. The temperature may fall to as low as -10℃ (15℉) in the winter and may go up to as high as 35℃ (95℉) during the summer. The annual precipitation is around 1,000 mm of which we have about 70% during the monsoon season in the summer. It is relatively dry during most of the fall and winter seasons.
The transportation to and from Pohang is very convenient and be accessed from Seoul by an hour flight or five-hour train or bus rides. Large cities such as Daegu and Busan are located within 70 km west and south of Pohang, respectively. Gyeongju, an ancient capital city for 1000 years between 57 BC and 935 AD, is about 25 km south of Pohang. Many major resort areas and beaches are located with an hour distance by car.
