   The Department enjoys excellent on campus research infrastructure with state-of-the-art research facilities and equipments, and the professors are involved in research activities with various national and international projects.

   Major facilities include the Pohang Accelerator Laboratory (PAL), a third-generation synchrotron radiation source, POSTECH Biotech Center (PBC), a grandeur biotech joint project between POSCO and POSTECH, National Core Research Center (NCRC) of Systems Bio-Dynamics, three Creative Research Initiative (CRI) Centers, two National Research Laboratories (NRL), one Global Research Laboratory (GRL), one Advanced Basic Research Laboratory (ABRL), Biological Research Information Center (BRIC) of Korea, Peptide Library, BIT R&D Program for Fusion Strategy of Advanced Technologies, Functional Genomics Lab and Biotechnology Research Center.Most recent addition was the establishment of POSTECH-CATHOLIC Biomedical Engineering Center (PCBMI), a joint institute between POSTECH and Catholic University Medical School. Besides them, the Department also has such specialty facilities as green house, animal rooms, Radio Isotope Room, and core facility rooms to support a wide range of state-of-the-art researches.
