1st Project : A PLL Based Speed and Position Estimation Method for a Washing Machine Motor Drive (2008. 08. 01 ~ 2009. 10. 01) 2nd Project : Load Torque Observer for a Washing Machine Motor Drive (2010. 03. 00 ~ 2011. 09. 01)
In accordance with the effort of reducing the green house gas, the efficiency of home appliances is strictly regulated by the government policies. In the drum washing machines, high resolution position sensors are not used for the PMSM control due to high cost pressure. Usually, discrete Hall-effect sensors are utilized to read the rotor position. But they result in large position errors, leading to a poor performance in current regulation. In order to overcome such a problem, a software Phase Locked Loop (PLL) is utilized with a nonlinear error compensation method. A strong first order filter is also utilized to regulate the remaining nonlinearities. But, it causes phase angle delay. The delay was compensated differently depending on the motor speed. Experimental results support the effectiveness of the proposed method.
The proposed speed and position estimation methods using PLL technique is reduced noise level about 4 dB at high speed.
