Zeolites and related ordered porous materials are technologically important materials, with main uses as catalysts and separation media, and they are of increasing interest as hosts for nanotechnology applications. The utility of such crystalline solids is intimately connected with their structural architecture, and thus ability to control the structure of these types of materials is an important goal in today¡¯s chemical research.

The focus of our work is in demonstrating innovative synthetic strategies for nanoporous materials with previously unobserved framework structures and compositions that could facilitate entirely new process and device applications. We combine synthetic chemistry and characterization with careful evaluation of microstructures and functionality in challenging applications. Our current research projects focus on molecular sieve synthesis, crystal structure elucidation, environmentally benign and sustainable catalysis, ion exchange, and gas (mainly H2 and CO2) separation. Our work is strengthened by substantial industrial interactions.
