Research Area

Our research is directed to understand the structural and functional role of proteins involved in cell growth and proliferation as well as DNA repair.  The proteins whose functional inactivation contributes to the formation of cancer are studied by x-ray crystallography as well as other biochemical techniques. The current projects include in human retinoblastoma viral oncogene complex, breast/ovary cancer susceptibility protein and proteins involved in the cell cycle regulation and DNA damage signaling pathway. The information obtained from these studies will help us (i) to understand how tumor inhibition and formation are regulated in the cell and (ii) to provide the framework to design the anti-cancer drug.
