Description

The aim of 2008 PMI Summer School on Knots and Manifolds is to deliver basic knowledge on knots and low-dimensional manifolds as first-step courses for beginners who want to start studying these fields. This summer school consists of 4 courses. The courses are designed for beginning graduate students and advanced undergraduate students, minimizing required backgrounds; point-set topology, linear algebra, group theory, and minimal knowledge on elementary algebraic topology will be enough. For the convenience of the participants, a study room and exercises related to course topics will be provided.

Registration

Students who want to participate in the summer school are requested to contact Jae Choon Cha with the following information: affiliation(university), program(under/master/PhD...), advisor, gender, stay in dorm(yes/no), and email address. For those saying at POSTECH dorm, there is a registration fee of 100,000 KRW; it should be paid on the first day of the summer school. (Participants not staying at POSTECH dorm are exempted from the fee.) We expect to offer (partial) support to students who are not supported by other grants. To request support, inform us when you register.

Reservation

A block of rooms in POSTECH dorm will be reserved for student participants. When you register, inform us if you want to stay in a dorm room. Linen is provided but you should bring your own soap, towels, toothbrush, and others.
