Faculty Positions at POSTECH (Quantum Technology and Ultrafast Science)
The Department of Physics (http://pheng.postech.ac.kr/) at POSTECH (http://www.postech.ac.kr/eng/) in Korea invites applications for faculty positions in the fields of Quantum Technology and Ultrafast Science to begin in Spring 2022 (or later). We anticipate hiring at the tenure-track assistant professor level but will consider an associate professor or a full professor appointment for an exceptional candidate.
We seek candidates with the ability to build internationally competitive research programs at POSTECH. In the field of quantum technology, we are interested in (but not limited to) quantum devices (superconducting-, semiconductor-, or nanophotonics-based), atomic physics, quantum optics, and quantum information/quantum matter theory. In the field of ultrafast science, areas of interest include ultrafast time-resolved studies (e.g., dynamics, spectroscopy, and imaging) of materials and biological systems.
Successful candidates are expected to have international recognition in their fields or demonstrable potential for such. They are expected to establish independent research groups at POSTECH and interact and collaborate effectively with scientists at POSTECH and POSTECH-based research institutions. They are also expected to teach undergraduate and graduate courses and supervise graduate students.
Applicants are expected to have a Ph.D. in Physics or closely related fields, but we also welcome applications from exceptional Ph.D. students who expect to finish their Ph.D. by their faculty appointment date. Non-Korean citizens and female scientists are encouraged to apply.
To apply, candidates must submit an application dossier that consists of:
1. A Curriculum Vitae including the full list of publications, patents, etc.
2. A statement of past research and future research plans.
3. Five representative achievements (journal publications and/or R&D records).
4. At least three references with their contact information.
Please be reminded that all documents submitted will not be returned. The application deadline is July 31, 2021 (KST), but applications will continue to be accepted until the positions are filled. All application materials should be sent either by postal mail or electronic mail to:
