The POSTECH-CATHOLIC Biomedical Engineering Institute is Korea's first joint research institute established between universities. It integrates POSTECH's cutting-edge research capabilities in life sciences and engineering with Catholic University of Korea's clinical expertise. The institute focuses on key areas of research and development, including immune modulation and therapeutics, bioactive modulators, advanced medical devices, and diagnostic and imaging technologies.
By fostering collaborative research, the institute aims to develop new drugs and advanced medical devices, and thereby generate economic value and contribute to the advancement of both universities. It also seeks to commercialize research outcomes, and thus provide new business opportunities.
In the future the institute will further enhance joint research that bridges biotechnology and clinical technology. The ultimate goal is to lead national science and technology in biomedical engineering and establish itself as a world-class research institute dedicated to improving the lives of patients worldwide.
