The researchers at POSTECH have been recognized with the 6th Next Generation Scientist Award and the 14th Outstanding Dissertation Award, presented by the S-OIL Science and Culture Foundation.

Professor Hee-Cheol Kim(Dept. of Physics) has achieved world-class research excellence in the geometric study of quantum field theory and quantum gravity. In particular, he was honored with the 6th Next Generation Scientist Award in recognition of his pioneering contributions to the field of quantum gravity through the innovative use of defect operators.

Dr. Seung Un Ryu [PI: Prof. Taiho Park (Namko Endowed Chair Professor of POSTECH)] received the 14th Outstanding Dissertation Award, a prestigious recognition for his doctoral dissertation, “Study on Molecular Structure-Morphology-Performance Relationship of Organic Solar Cells”, which was praised for its originality, innovative approach, and practical applicability.

Dr. Daegeun Jo[PI: Prof. Hyun-Woo Lee] was also honored with the 14th Outstanding Dissertation Award. He conducted theoretical research on various solid-state physics phenomena induced by the orbital degree of freedom of electrons, in his doctoral dissertation, “Generation, Detection, and Application of Orbital Dynamics.” This work was published in the prestigious journal Nature [Nature 619, 52 (2023)].
