Embodying the Value of Sharing through Small ActionsVolunteer Program for Enhancing Social Responsibility and Developing Global Leaders

POSTECH provides direction and operates various volunteer programs to ensure that student volunteer activities align with the educational values and societal needs. These programs offer valuable experiences to cultivate a sense of responsibility toward the local community and to build leadership skills, aiming for students' growth through positive influence.

The Student Volunteer Certification System is a program designed to officially recognize and systematically manage students' various volunteer activities.This system enhances social value and serves as a practical tool for career and employment record management. It also provides convenience throughthe PAMS (POSTECHIAN Activity Management System).

  • POSTECH Online Mentoring Program for Middle School Students
    The POSTECH Online Mentoring Program for Middle School Students is a social contribution and educational donation initiative that provides equal learning opportunities to middle school students in underserved areas, fulfilling POSTECH's commitment to social responsibility.

    Targeting middle school students in rural areas of Gyeongsangbuk-do and Muan County in Jeollanam-do, the program supports students in enhancing their understanding of core subjects and developing self-directed learning skills through real-time online tutoring. Small group matching enables a personalized educational experience, and career counseling is provided to help mentees define their dreams and goals. Additionally, video learning content created by mentors is uploaded to the POSTECHx platform, offering accessible educational resources anytime, anywhere, allowing mentees to continue their self-directed learning even after the program ends.

  • DIY Volunteer Community
    The DIY Volunteer Community is a team-based, project-oriented volunteer program where students form teams to explore community issues, develop solutions, and put them into action.

    Through collaborating with peers, students have the opportunity to plan and execute volunteer activities independently, gaining a deeper understanding of various community challenges and experiencing a sense of accomplishment from contributing voluntarily. Unlike conventional volunteer activities, this community program allows students to act as problem-solvers, addressing diverse social issues such as supporting underprivileged groups, environmental protection, and reducing educational disparities. This approach provides a valuable opportunity to develop essential skills needed to create tangible social value.

  • Community-Based Organization Partnership Program
    The Community-Based Organization Partnership Program is a volunteer initiative that supports students in working closely with nonprofit organizations and groups near Pohang, fostering meaningful engagement and community service opportunities.

    Through collaboration with these organizations, students contribute across various areas where community needs are most pressing while engaging and cooperating with local residents to develop a strong sense of responsibility as active community members. Additionally, by partnering with nonprofits, students benefit from the expertise and networks of these organizations, enhancing the impact of their volunteer efforts and strengthening ties with the local community.

  • Global Cooperation-Based International Volunteering Program
    The Global Cooperation-Based International Volunteering Program is an international service initiative conducted in partnership with the Korean University Council for Social Service (KUCSS) in developing countries.

    This program includes a variety of activities such as educational support, cultural exchange, and hands-on volunteer work, fostering meaningful connections with local residents while promoting the values of education and culture. By providing tailored services that meet the needs of local communities, students are able to make a tangible impact. Through immersive cultural experiences and enhanced mutual understanding, students also cultivate multicultural sensitivity and global citizenship.
